Individual Therapy
Individual therapy, in the form of counselling or psychotherapy, involves working on a one-to-one basis with a trained therapist. The therapist supports clients in physical, emotional and mental health issues and provides an opportunity for individual to explore their feelings, beliefs and behaviours in a safe, caring and non-judgemental environment so that they can learn to understand themselves and others better and work towards desired change.
Focus is placed on any immediate or future concerns that the individual may have. The therapist and the client form a therapeutic relationship, based on mutual trust and respect. The goal of therapy is to help the person grow and learn the skills that may help them to move towards more productive and healthy lives. These goals are determined and agreed on by both the therapist and the client. Individual sessions take placed by appointment only and the duration of therapy and frequency of the sessions will depend on the client’s individual needs, the goals that have been agreed and the progress the client makes.
Some issues can be resolved with short-term therapy, while more complex challenges may require longer-term commitment. These decisions are also agreed on between the client and the therapist. The first meeting will be an information-gathering session and may include some history taking, consent to treatment and relevant policies and procedures in relation to confidentiality and adherence to GDPR. We offer individual counselling sessions which last about one hour at a cost of €50 per session. Discounts are offered for people that are unemployed.
